The person pictured above is not me (happy, contemplative-looking stock photo for the win!).
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in what makes people tick. More specifically, I’ve been interested in people and relationships.
That’s what led me to take a weeklong certification class on the Myers Briggs personality type (MBTI) assessment back in June 2011. From there, I went on to administer the assessment to all of my family members and closest friends with great enthusiasm. I assessed a few others who were interested—and even taught a class on the MBTI in new hire orientation when I worked at a local hospice—but didn’t have any idea how to turn personality testing into a sustainable career.
It seems my path has been leading me toward becoming a career coach for a long time. Friends have always asked me for job search advice and resume reviews. I was inspired to reserve a business name three years ago, and have been dreaming of developing that into more than just a side gig ever since.
Last February, while searching LinkedIn for inspiration, I came across a post for fellow Career Coach, Christie Mims’ Career Happiness Revolution course. I thought, that’s just what I need and proceeded to sign up. Christie's online class fueled my drive for becoming a Career Coach. It also showed me a reality where I could do what I love and earn a living while doing it!
