Why I Hired a Coach

I hired a coach this week! Why? Because I believe in coaching. And,
professional coaches need inspiration and motivation, too.
It's easy for me to say things like, Change your thinking, change your life, but if I don't practice that philosophy, myself, it's meaningless to those with whom I talk about my own career coaching practice. It falls flat.

During our first meeting, my coach encouraged me to put together a certain number of sticky note affirmations. Think the SNL character, Stuart Smalley, speaking affirmations like "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggonit, people like me" into the mirror or, more recently, the scene in the movie, The Help where Aibileen tells the toddler she has basically raised, "You is kind. You is smart. You is important."
The idea of writing affirmations to ourselves might sound silly at first glance, but a lot of us can benefit from this kind of support. Sometimes we need to be reminded of our greatness.
Our thoughts are powerful. They drive our actions. Actions become who we are and how we live our lives. In other words, thoughts drive actions, which ultimately turn into our character. A few thoughts to leave you with:
How do you want to live? What actions can you take to create that?
What do you want your life to look like?
How can I help?
